Welcome to the NESGS Tombstone Photo ProjectSearch over 84,200 tombstone photo records from across the state of Nebraska!
|
The mission of this project is to capture digital images of all the tombstones in the state of Nebraska.
As decades pass -- many grave markers become difficult, if not impossible, to read. The inscriptions they originally contained erode with time and the effects are irreversible.
By photographing the tombstones and uploading them to this project, you are archiving the images, which will ultimately help to save these important records while making them available to researchers all over the world.
We are currently seeking volunteers to help photograph and upload tombstone images for many of Nebraska's counties. If you have an interest in volunteering for this rewarding part-time activity please contact us.
Luckie Taylor has moved up to Assistant State Coordinator for this project. Please feel free to contact her if you need help or if you would like more information about the project or the process we use to view and approve the photos for online display.
